About
Linnea has been in the behavioral health field since 2005 and a practicing therapist since 2009. She graduated from Scripps/Claremont with a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Psychology from Argosy University. She received comprehensive training with a well-respected community mental health organization, and spent the first twelve years of her career providing services to severely at-risk and under-served children and adults. In addition to limited access to quality therapy, this population of vulnerable clients was also frequently prescribed multiple, intensive pharmaceuticals. These often caused significant side effects that impacted quality of life, and it seemed like most medical providers were not open to finding less invasive alternatives. Many of these people had an extensive history of adverse experiences, but rather than providing them with good quality therapy before prescribing drugs, they became the first intervention.
From this experience Linnea learned the importance of really listening to a client’s story, to gain a clear understanding of who they are and where they came from, and to seek out all possible reasons that a person is experiencing distress before looking to medicine. In order to legally and ethically provide these comprehensive services, Linnea became an AFPA Certified Holistic Nutritionist/Gut Health Specialist and a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional. These certifications allow her to talk to clients about their whole being, and to provide a true, holistic therapy experience. To best meet this goal Linnea has created an approach to therapy that is equal parts investigative and supportive, and direct and educational. Everyone has a story waiting to be told, and Linnea is ready to hear yours.
